Could a popular Weight-Loss drug help obese women beat early uterine cancer?

NCT ID NCT07107334

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This pilot study tests whether adding a GLP-1RA weight-loss drug (like semaglutide) to a hormone-releasing IUD can shrink or clear early endometrial cancer in obese patients who are not good candidates for hysterectomy or wish to preserve fertility. About 20 adults will be followed for up to 12 months to see if the combination allows them to avoid surgery or safely pursue pregnancy. The goal is to control the disease without needing lifelong medication, though ongoing monitoring is expected.
