Your smartwatch could predict diabetes before it starts

NCT ID NCT07373418

First seen Jan 28, 2026 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study tests whether data from wearable devices (like a smart ring and watch) and a smartphone app can help identify people with prediabetes—a condition that raises the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Researchers will enroll 200 adults aged 45 and older who are overweight, with half having prediabetes and half being healthy. Participants wear the devices and log meals for about 4 weeks, while researchers look for patterns that could lead to earlier detection and personalized prevention.
