Summary

This study tested whether spraying a mix of budesonide and lidocaine directly at the voice box (glottis) can reduce sore throat after thyroid surgery. 96 adults having thyroid surgery with nerve monitoring were randomly assigned to receive either the drug spray or a saltwater spray. The goal was to see if the drug spray lowers the chance and severity of throat pain after the operation.
