New hope for older lymphoma patients: gentler, smarter treatment on the horizon?
NCT ID NCT06765317
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing a new treatment for older adults (65 and up) with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) or similar aggressive lymphomas. The treatment combines a targeted immunotherapy drug called glofitamab with standard chemotherapy, aiming to improve cancer remission while reducing side effects. About 42 participants will receive this combination, and researchers will track how many achieve a complete response.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Glofitamab (a drug that helps the immune system attack cancer cells) combined with polatuzumab, obinutuzumab, and standard chemotherapy (rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, prednisone)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a more effective and less toxic first treatment for older adults with aggressive B-cell lymphoma, potentially improving survival and quality of life.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial (42 participants) with no control group, so results may not be definitive. The drug combination may still cause significant side effects, and not all patients may respond.
