Can a special light boost brain health in glaucoma patients?
NCT ID NCT07364929
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study looks at how glaucoma affects sleep, mood, alertness, and thinking by changing how the eye responds to light. Researchers will compare 120 adults with glaucoma to healthy volunteers aged 45-75. Participants will wear a sleep tracker and visit a lab to test their thinking after exposure to standard indoor light and a full-spectrum light that mimics daylight. The goal is to see if light-based treatments can improve quality of life for people with glaucoma.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Full-spectrum light exposure
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to simple light-based interventions to improve sleep, mood, and alertness in people with glaucoma.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage observational and interventional study with a small sample size. The light exposure is short-term, so any benefits may not last or apply to daily life.
