Scientists use High-Tech scans to hunt for new treatment target in dangerous vessel disease

NCT ID NCT07269938

Summary

This study aims to see if a new scanning technology can find specific immune cells (B cells) inside the blood vessels of people with giant cell arteritis (GCA), a serious inflammatory disease. Researchers will scan 30 participants, including people with GCA and two comparison groups, before and after standard steroid treatment. The goal is to learn if B cells are a good target for future treatments that could replace or reduce the need for steroids, which have many side effects.
