Gentler mask vs. breathing tube: new hope for tiniest Babies' lungs

NCT ID NCT07098910

Summary

This study is comparing two methods for giving a lung medicine called surfactant to premature babies with breathing difficulties. The goal is to see if a newer, gentler method using a soft mask in the throat works as well as the standard method that requires placing a breathing tube. The research involves 440 premature babies in Vietnam and aims to find a less invasive treatment that is easier to perform and may be safer.
