A soothing touch: simple technique tested to ease pain in tiniest patients

NCT ID NCT07470398

Summary

This study tested whether a gentle touch technique could help reduce pain and improve breathing stability in premature babies during necessary but painful medical procedures. Researchers compared 60 stable preterm infants who received either the gentle touch or standard care during procedures like blood draws. The goal was to see if this safe, non-drug method could make hospital stays less stressful for these vulnerable newborns.
