Massive genetic hunt launched to unlock diabetes secrets in africa
NCT ID NCT00837122
Summary
This study aims to discover the genetic factors that contribute to type 2 diabetes and related conditions like high blood pressure in people of African ancestry, particularly the Yoruba population in Nigeria. Researchers will collect health data and DNA samples from 10,000 participants to compare the genes of people with and without diabetes. The goal is to build knowledge that could lead to better prevention strategies and more personalized treatments in the future, but this study itself does not test a new treatment.
