DNA test could reveal Who's at risk from Life-Threatening diabetes drug complication

NCT ID NCT05402579

Summary

This study aimed to find out if a person's genetic makeup can help predict their risk of developing a dangerous condition called diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) while taking SGLT2 inhibitor drugs for type 2 diabetes. Researchers studied 63 adults who were hospitalized, comparing the genes of those who experienced DKA to those who did not. The goal is to use this genetic information to help doctors better decide which patients can safely use these beneficial medications.
