Tiny babies, big genes: study seeks clues to premature lung disease

NCT ID NCT00710112

First seen Jan 27, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looks at whether small differences in certain genes make very low birth-weight babies (under 1500 grams) more likely to develop chronic lung disease and other serious problems of prematurity. Researchers will also check blood markers to help predict these complications. The goal is to better understand why some premature infants get sicker than others.
