Can a simpler approach to genetic testing get more people screened for cancer risk?
NCT ID NCT03985852
First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study looked at over 3,000 people with a family history of certain cancers to see if a patient-directed model (where you order your own genetic test) leads to more people getting tested compared to the usual approach with genetic counseling. The goal was to see if the simpler method works better, especially for different racial and ethnic groups and people in rural areas. The study also checked if getting tested helped people follow cancer prevention and screening recommendations.
