New genetic tests aim to solve mystery of childhood developmental delays
NCT ID NCT02414438
Summary
This study tested whether two new genetic diagnostic tools help doctors better identify the causes of intellectual disability and developmental delays in children. Researchers measured if pediatricians who learned about these tests ordered more appropriate treatments and fewer unnecessary tests compared to doctors who didn't receive the information. The study involved 217 pediatric specialists and general pediatricians who completed simulated patient cases to measure changes in their diagnostic and treatment decisions.
