Scientists hunt genetic clues to rare, deadly virus illness

NCT ID NCT00032513

Summary

This study aims to find the genetic causes of a rare and serious illness called Chronic Active Epstein-Barr Virus (CAEBV), which mostly affects children and young adults. Researchers will analyze blood and tissue samples from patients with CAEBV and their family members to look for genetic differences. The goal is to better understand why this virus becomes life-threatening in some people, which could eventually lead to improved treatments.
