Summary

This study aimed to find the genes that cause Chiari type I malformation, a condition where part of the brain pushes into the spinal canal. Researchers took blood samples from 40 people with the condition and their family members to look for shared genetic mutations. The goal was to better understand why some people develop this malformation and why some also get a related spinal fluid cyst called syringomyelia.
