Scientists hunt for genetic clues to prevent deadly heart procedure complication

NCT ID NCT05355532

Summary

This study aimed to find genetic markers that might predict a dangerous complication called 'no-reflow' or CMVO. This happens in some heart attack patients after a procedure to open a blocked artery, where blood still doesn't flow properly to the heart muscle. Researchers compared the genes of 80 patients—40 who developed the complication and 40 who did not—to see if specific genetic differences were linked to the risk.
