Scientists hunt for the hidden genetic causes of kidney failure

NCT ID NCT00001393

Summary

This study aimed to understand if certain genes make people more likely to develop a serious kidney disease called Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). Researchers collected blood samples from over 600 people, including patients with FSGS, people with HIV, and healthy volunteers, to compare their DNA. The goal was to find genetic markers that could help identify at-risk patients earlier and guide future research into better treatments.
