Brain surgery delivers gene therapy to fight Parkinson's

NCT ID NCT07267065

Summary

This early-stage study is testing whether a gene therapy delivered directly to the brain is safe and might help people with young-onset Parkinson's disease. The therapy uses a modified virus to deliver a gene that helps brain cells produce more dopamine, the chemical that's low in Parkinson's. Nine participants will undergo brain surgery to receive the experimental treatment, and researchers will monitor them closely for safety and any changes in their symptoms.
