Scientists test gene therapy to restore vision in blinding eye disease

NCT ID NCT04278131

Summary

This trial is testing a new gene therapy called BS01 for people with retinitis pigmentosa, a genetic eye disease that causes vision loss. The therapy uses a harmless virus to deliver a special light-sensitive protein directly into the eye, aiming to help remaining cells detect light and improve vision. Researchers will first check if the treatment is safe and then see if it helps patients see light, motion, and shapes better.
