First seen Feb 12, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This early-stage trial tests a one-time treatment for recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (RDEB), a rare genetic condition causing fragile, blistering skin. Doctors take a small piece of the patient's skin, fix the faulty gene in a lab, grow it into a healthy sheet, and graft it back onto damaged areas up to 300 cm². The study involves 3 adults and primarily checks for safety, while also looking for improved skin strength and healing.
