First seen Apr 22, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This early-stage trial tests a gene therapy injected directly into the left vagus nerve for people with giant axonal neuropathy (GAN), a rare, fatal nerve disease that affects movement, breathing, and automatic body functions. The study enrolls 4 participants who have already received a prior gene therapy injection into the spine. The main goal is to check safety, and researchers will also watch for improvements in automatic nerve symptoms like digestion and heart rate.
