One-Shot gene therapy could free patients from monthly eye injections
NCT ID NCT04567550
First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated Apr 10, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study is testing a one-time gene therapy injection, called RGX-314, for people with diabetic retinopathy, a leading cause of vision loss. The goal is to see if this single treatment can improve or stabilize the eye disease, potentially reducing or eliminating the need for the frequent anti-VEGF injections that are the current standard of care. Researchers are enrolling about 139 adults to compare different doses of the gene therapy against observation or a standard treatment.
