Could your genes put your baby at risk from common painkillers?

NCT ID NCT00710177

Summary

This study aims to understand if a specific gene (PTGS1) makes some babies more susceptible to developing a serious lung condition called PPHN when their mothers take common over-the-counter pain medicines (NSAIDs) during pregnancy. Researchers will compare the genes of 200 babies with PPHN to healthy babies to look for differences. The goal is to learn how to predict and potentially prevent this condition in the future.
