Scientists probe stomach Pacemaker's hidden nerve effects

NCT ID NCT02159586

Summary

This study aims to understand how a surgically implanted stomach stimulator (GES) affects nerve signals and heart rhythms in people with gastroparesis, a condition where the stomach empties too slowly. Researchers will monitor 300 patients who have or will get the device, using EKGs and neck electrodes to record nerve activity. The goal is to gather knowledge about how the treatment works, not to directly improve symptoms.
