Simple drain may cut shoulder pain after keyhole surgery
NCT ID NCT07262749
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether placing a small drain to let out leftover gas after gynecologic laparoscopy can reduce shoulder pain. The gas can irritate the diaphragm and cause pain in the shoulder. 124 women having laparoscopy lasting over 20 minutes will be randomly assigned to get the drain or standard care. Pain, nausea, and recovery will be tracked for 48 hours after surgery.
