Simple drain may ease shoulder pain after keyhole surgery
NCT ID NCT07262749
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study tests whether placing a small drain in the belly to let out leftover gas can reduce shoulder pain after gynecologic laparoscopy (keyhole surgery). The leftover gas can irritate the diaphragm and cause pain in the shoulder. About 124 women having this surgery will be randomly assigned to get the drain or standard care, and their pain will be tracked for 48 hours.
