NCT ID NCT04706507

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tested whether the antiviral drug ganciclovir could prevent the reactivation of cytomegalovirus (CMV) in adults with sepsis and acute respiratory failure. The goal was to see if it would increase the number of days patients could breathe without a ventilator. The study included 205 participants in the ICU who had CMV antibodies. The trial was terminated early, so results are limited.
