Brain cancer breakthrough? radiation seeds in surgery tested in major trial

NCT ID NCT07195591

Summary

This study is testing whether adding GammaTile radiation seeds during brain tumor surgery helps patients live longer compared to standard treatment alone. The trial involves 766 adults with newly diagnosed glioblastoma who will receive either standard surgery followed by chemotherapy and radiation, or surgery with GammaTile implants plus adjusted chemotherapy and radiation. The main goal is to see if this combined approach improves survival for this aggressive type of brain cancer.
