Video game fights muscle loss in hospitalized seniors

NCT ID NCT07294131

Summary

This study is testing a new training system to help older adults keep their leg muscles strong while they are in the hospital. When older people are hospitalized and spend a lot of time in bed, their muscles can weaken quickly, making recovery harder. The system combines a simple muscle-tightening game played on a tablet with a safe blood-flow restriction technique to make light exercises more effective. Researchers will compare this new approach to standard physical therapy in 120 hospitalized adults aged 65 and older.
