First seen Feb 25, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study compares three approaches for people who have both gallstones and stones in the bile duct: a procedure that removes stones while keeping the gallbladder (ERCP), gallbladder removal surgery plus stone removal, or monitoring without active treatment. Researchers will track 300 adults to see which option is safest and works best over time. The goal is to find the best way to manage these stones while reducing complications.
