New gallbladder procedure could offer surgery alternative
NCT ID NCT04197908
Summary
This study tested whether a less invasive procedure could be a good alternative to surgery for treating sudden, painful gallbladder inflammation. Doctors used a special scope to place a small drainage tube in the gallbladder of 30 patients who were otherwise healthy enough for surgery. The goal was to see if this method was safe and could effectively relieve the infection without needing an operation.
