Scientists study how neck and eye muscle disorders affect walking

NCT ID NCT03938363

Summary

This study aimed to understand how two specific muscle movement disorders—cervical dystonia (involuntary neck twisting) and blepharospasm (uncontrolled eyelid closure)—affect a person's walking. Researchers measured the walking patterns of 40 people with these conditions, both before and about a month after they received their standard botulinum toxin (Botox) treatment. The goal was to fill a knowledge gap by seeing if these disorders change how people walk and if the common treatment influences those walking patterns.
