New stride, less pain: gait retraining helps female runners
NCT ID NCT07176819
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 31 times
Summary
This study looked at whether teaching female runners with knee pain (patellofemoral pain) to change their running stride—using a wearable device to increase step rate—could reduce pain and improve function. 44 women who ran at least 15 km per week took part. Half received gait retraining plus education, while the other half got education alone. The goal was to see if adjusting running form could lower stress on the knee joint and ease symptoms.
