Can imagining a better future stop harsh parenting in addiction recovery?

NCT ID NCT05963633

Summary

This study tests a brief mental exercise called 'Episodic Future Thinking' to help parents who are in treatment for substance use disorders. The goal is to help these parents focus more on long-term positive outcomes with their children, rather than reacting harshly in the moment. Researchers hope this simple technique can improve parent-child relationships and help break the cycle of addiction and harsh parenting in underserved communities.
