AI helps dentists save infected teeth without root canals
NCT ID NCT06767371
First seen Feb 03, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study tested whether a less invasive dental procedure (full pulpotomy) works as well as a root canal in molars with severe infection. 58 adults with irreversible pulpitis were treated, and an AI tool helped detect hidden infections on X-rays. The goal was to see if the tooth-saving procedure succeeds in both infected and non-infected teeth, potentially avoiding more complex treatments.
