Scientists freeze blood platelets to fight cancer treatment shortages

NCT ID NCT07235436

Summary

This lab study tested if freezing platelets—tiny blood cells that help with clotting—is a safe and effective way to store them for longer. Researchers collected platelets from donors, froze them, and then thawed them to see how well they worked and if they could be used to prevent bleeding in cancer patients. The goal is to create a more reliable supply of platelets for patients who need frequent transfusions.
