New dye test could replace risky X-Rays for frostbite patients

NCT ID NCT05777590

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a special dye called indocyanine green (ICG) can be used instead of standard X-ray dye to see frostbite damage. Eight adults with severe frostbite will get both tests to see if the results match. If ICG works as well, it may be a safer option for patients.
