Scientists search for a new tool to track a rare neurological disease

NCT ID NCT06496451

Summary

This study aimed to find a new way to measure a specific biological signal (frataxin mRNA) in the blood and spinal fluid of people with Friedreich's ataxia. Researchers tested 10 adult patients to see if this measurement could serve as a useful tool to track the disease and monitor future treatments. The goal was to develop a better method for researchers to see if new therapies are working to increase frataxin levels in the brain.
