Freeze the pain: new hope for patients stuck on long surgery waitlists
NCT ID NCT06942078
Summary
This study is testing a procedure that uses extreme cold to temporarily freeze nerves, aiming to reduce pain for people waiting many months for hip or knee replacement surgery. The goal is to see if this method can help patients manage their pain with fewer opioid painkillers while they wait. Researchers will enroll 30 patients who are already taking daily opioids for their joint pain to see how well the freezing treatment works and how it affects their quality of life.
