Could freezing replace surgery for some breast cancers?

NCT ID NCT07447414

Summary

This study is testing whether freezing small breast tumors with liquid nitrogen can completely destroy cancer cells in postmenopausal women. Researchers will treat 140 women with this freezing technique, then perform standard surgery to check if any cancer cells remain. The goal is to see if this less invasive freezing method could be an effective alternative to surgery for certain early-stage breast cancers.
