Simple 5-Question test could warn older cancer patients of dangerous chemo side effects

NCT ID NCT07272538

Summary

This study looked at whether two short frailty questionnaires could predict which older adults would experience severe side effects from chemotherapy after cancer surgery. Researchers followed 84 patients aged 65 and older who had surgery for gastrointestinal cancers and were receiving standard follow-up chemotherapy. The goal was to see if frailty scores at the start of treatment could help doctors identify patients at higher risk for serious complications, allowing for more personalized and safer care.
