First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at fospropofol disodium, a sedative, to find the best dose for elderly patients (65 and older) having leg surgery with spinal anesthesia. The goal is to keep patients comfortably asleep without over-sedating them. Sixty participants will receive different doses to determine the amount that works for 95% of people.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

fospropofol disodium

What this could lead to

If successful, this could help doctors use a safer, more precise dose of fospropofol for sedation in elderly patients during surgery.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase trial with only 60 patients, so results may not apply to everyone. The drug may cause side effects like low blood pressure or breathing problems.
