Doctors prescribe fruits & veggies to fight diabetes in native communities

NCT ID NCT07254689

Summary

This study is testing a 'produce prescription' program designed with and for Native American older adults living on the Flathead Reservation in Montana. Healthcare providers will give eligible participants vouchers to buy fresh fruits and vegetables at a local food center, aiming to reduce food insecurity and lower risk factors for type 2 diabetes. Researchers will work closely with the tribal community to see if this approach is practical, culturally appropriate, and helps improve health.
