Sound waves and immunotherapy: a new combo against breast cancer?

NCT ID NCT03237572

First seen Feb 11, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This early study tested whether using high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) before or after the immunotherapy drug pembrolizumab could help the immune system better attack metastatic breast cancer. Only 13 people took part before the study was stopped early. The main goal was to see changes in immune cells inside tumors, not to cure the disease.
