First seen Mar 23, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study tests whether transplanting healthy donor stool into the gut can eliminate dangerous, antibiotic-resistant bacteria (CRE) in 52 adult carriers. Participants receive either a real fecal transplant or a placebo via colonoscopy, then are monitored for up to 3 months. The goal is to see if restoring healthy gut bacteria can outcompete the superbugs and reduce infection risk.
