Poop transplant trial aims to rescue lungs from superbug infections

NCT ID NCT06970262

Summary

This study is testing whether a fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) can help critically ill ICU patients with severe, drug-resistant lung infections. Researchers will transfer gut bacteria from healthy donors to patients via a feeding tube, aiming to restore a healthy balance of bacteria in both the gut and lungs. The goal is to see if this approach improves patient recovery, reduces time in the ICU, and lowers the risk of death.
