Antidepressant may ease pain and PTSD after trauma

Summary
This study tests whether giving fluoxetine (Prozac) immediately after a serious injury can prevent depression, PTSD, and reduce pain and opioid use. About 200 adults with fractures or other bodily trauma will receive either fluoxetine or a placebo during their hospital stay. The goal is to improve mental and physical recovery without changing standard pain treatment.
