Fluoride shield tested to stop clear aligner stains

NCT ID NCT07319884

Summary

This study aims to see if applying a fluoride varnish can prevent white spot lesions (early tooth decay marks) that sometimes form during clear aligner treatment. Researchers are testing this by applying the varnish to one side of the mouth but not the other in 25 young adults wearing aligners. They will compare the two sides after six months to see if the fluoride-treated side develops fewer or less severe white spots.
