Ultrasound trick could prevent fluid overload in ICU patients

NCT ID NCT06415916

First seen Dec 24, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a simple ultrasound test, done while lifting a patient's legs, can predict how well they will handle extra fluids. The goal is to help doctors avoid giving too much fluid, which can harm the lungs, kidneys, and gut. About 100 adults in intensive care who need fluids will take part. The results may lead to safer, more personalized fluid management.
