Can smarter fluid dosing during surgery protect the aging brain?

NCT ID NCT07438249

Summary

This study tested whether a personalized approach to giving fluids during major abdominal cancer surgery could help prevent confusion and memory problems afterward in patients aged 65 and older. Researchers compared a group receiving fluids guided by a special monitor to a group receiving standard fluid amounts. The goal was to see if the personalized method led to better thinking skills in the days following surgery.
